Day four conversation

Conversation
What is your view on protecting natural habitats and looking after wildlife?

I think that mankind should protect natural habitats and look after wildlife as they are important to us too. They are our main source of nature and, also, there are many varieties of animals and plants in the wildlife. However, many people do not know that they are harming mankind themselves, and are bend on doing so. For example, there are many people who slash and burn for the land they need, but do not know that they are destroying nature themselves. This can be very critical and fatal, as nature not only gives us colours, but the harmful gases that is given off during the burning is contributing to the greenhouse effect, and of course harmful to us people. For example, two years ago a big part of Asia is covered in haze and fog due to the burning of forests and natural habitats in places like Indonesia and India, and they are burning the forests for the land which they need to develop cities. I think that to develop more sities, the destruction of nature is unnecessary, as this may cause more harm in the future due to the global warming.
Thanks.

Day two Conversation

What is your view about CCTV or security cameras in public places?

I find that installing CCTVs and security cameras in public places are not wrong, but sometimes they are unnecessary.
Firstly, I must mention that to these CCTVs and security cameras, there are both pros and cons. I will talk about the pros first, and then the cons.
The main reasons of the CCTVs and security cameras is to prevent theft and to maintain security in a certain area. Sometimes, we humans make mistake and do not always notice things, thus the patrolling security guards may not come in handy. With the CCTVs and security cameras now installed, security guards can now have a wider scope of view within a store, and thus can be clear of anyone who's trying to either steal something or commit a crime.
However, CCTVs and security cameras would make people feel more uncomfortable and not trusted, and thus this may affect their shopping experience and affext the shop's business.
In this case, there has been research showing that more than 20% of the shop's business has deproved after installing a CCTV and putting the image captured on the screen in front of the cashier. This shows that the customers will feel untrusted and not be able to shop happily. To this, I have a suggestion. The shop owners can actually move the CCTV screen to inside their own staff room, and monitor the store from inside there. If they see any suspicious looking person or article, they can then approach that person.
Thank you la.

Day ten part two Picture discussion

  • This picture depicts a scene at an old folks home.
  • I can tell that as the majority of the people there are elderly people.
  • Most of them look very bored and listless. This may be because of the boring life at an old folks home.
  • I think that some of them are either abandoned by their family members or their children are met with mishaps and died, thus leaving them here.
  • At the top centre of the picture, we can see a middle aged man currently doing some hand signals, with the elderly people at the old folks home imitating what he is doing.
  • I think that he may be a volunteer to help out at the old folks home and trying to clear off some boredom amongst the elderly.
  • There is also another middle aged woman behind the middle aged man. She is also trying to stir some excitement among the elderly.
  • Behind the middle aged woman are some people who looks like the cooks for the old folks home.
  • From this picture, I can infer to life that at some certain point of life, in this case when we are old, there are bound to be kind people to bring some colours into our lifes, and we should be grateful to these people and not take them for granted.

Thank you! :D

Day eight part two Picture discussion

  • This picture depicts a scene at an open space with children playing with adults.
  • This could be a playground, and the children and adults may most probably be kindergarten pupils and teachers respectively.
  • From the faces of the teacher and pupils, I can tell that they are really enjoying their time together and the game they are playing.
  • This game which is called eagle catching little chickens is a traditional singaporean game that is played among most of the singaporean children.
  • At the centre of the picture, we can see that the teacher is smiling. This shows that the teacher takes part actively in the games just like the children, making the game more interesting. This shows that the teacher shows enthusiasm and not just let the children play alone.
  • At the background of the picture i can see that there is another teacher that is actively taking part in the game as well.
  • From this picture, we can tell the the teacher nowadays are very serious in their jobs, even for the kindergarten teachers, which is good for a society like Singapore.

Thank you. :D

Day six part two Picture discussion

  • This picture depicts a scene at a stadium.
  • I can infer that from the background of the picture, where this place is surrounded by stands.
  • There are also people seated on the stands, looking towards the field, where the four girls in the foreground of the pictures are.
  • This is probably a sports event as there are many people at the stadium, with some of them having number tags behind their shirts.
  • The four girls are clearly seen cheering excitedly and happily, most probably cheering on for their classmates or someone they know.
  • This can be seen from their expressions shown on their faces, all smiling widely.
  • Behind them is a group of boys who are seated down.
  • They are either waiting for their event or are cheering on for their schoolmates, just not as enthusiastically as the four girls.
  • From this picture, we can see how serious human's emotions can get, if they are happy, they can show it in many ways, and in this, they are smiling happily and stamping their feet.

Thank you!

Day four part two Picture Discussion

  • This picture depicts a scene where some helpful people is helping someone handicapped up a bus.
  • These people may be volunteers from a certain social support society to help out the handicapped.
  • From the background of the picture, we can clearly see that the volunteers are people wearing a tag around their necks.
  • The person pushing the handicapped up the bus may be his relative or just one of the volunteers.
  • At the centre of the picture There is a handicapped man that sitting on a wheelchair. He look very well dressed and may be heading for some performance or concert the volunteers are taking them to.
  • On the right, there is a person who is stretching his right hand towards the handicapped man, probably wanting to help him up the bus.
  • That man is most probably the bus driver as he is dressed differently from the rest of the people.
  • From this picture, I can see that this picture tells us how people are in real life, for example the person on the right. We can lend our helping hand to others who are in need and not be selfish.

Thank you! :D

Part two day two Picture Discussion

  • This picture depicts a scene in a hair salon.
  • There are five women in the background of the hair salon, probably more than five as there is a pair of hands in the bottom right hand corner of the picture, each with a hairdressing doll.
  • They are most probably trainee hairdressers, as they are working on the hairdressing doll instead of a real person.
  • Also, from their faces, I can tell that most of them are enjoying their time and job, as they are at all smiles.
  • This hair salon may not be a famous or high class hair salon as the environment does not suit one.
  • From the looks of the women, I can tell that they are all indians, and thus this may be an indian hair salon.
  • There is also a difference in the picture, clearly showing that the people on the left work on long haired dolls and the people on the right work on short haired doll.
  • This shows that this salon is very well organized, with people being trained for suitable customers with different hair styles.
  • On the bottom left of the picture, i can see that someone is working on that hairdressing doll although the picture does not show the person. This is because there are hairdressing tools laying on the table and the doll looks like it is halfway through a haircut. :D
  • Abit to the left from the centre of the picture, there is a woman showing her exquisite hair cutting skills. This shows that they are not new to hairdressing.
  • A little towards the right from the centre of the picture, we can see a lady dressing differently from the rest of the hairdressers. She may be the boss of the salon, and thus am working on something different than the rest. Her slight smile on her face shows her confidence in her own hair cutting skills and is not new to hair cutting.
  • From this picture, we can tell that hairdressers in salons are well trained.

Thank you!

Week 10

My little sister who is a squeamish person, has a phobia of dogs. Whenever she sees a big ferocious mastiff she would immediately recoil with fear. Her face would then turn wan in an instant if the dog started to approach her and even if it did, she would just stand there inert, feeling very light as though she might faint any moment.

Week 19

A robber's intelligence is his most important asset. His astute sense of danger will be essential in getting him out of justice’s way. He will also intelligently scrutinize his oblivious victim’s every single action and when the timing is right, he will strike when the kettle is hot by blatantly extorting his prey in the remote streets before fleeing the scene. :D

Week 18

Peregrination was all Ben wanted. He craves being a buff of nature and visit a myriad of places of his choice. However, he had a mental illness that made him unable to control his actions. In that spontaneous moment, he removed all his clothes and wore just a briefs and thought that he was heading towards his paradise, but instead headed for the crowded part of singapore. Poor Ben. :DDD

Week 17

As John and Jon found themselves lost in the labyrinth inside an ancient cave thats buried for centuries and only found last week which was fraught with danger, they soon discover that the cave is going to collapse in mere minutes. Precious time ticked by and both of them needed to concoct a plan to escape from the cave as fast as possible, but all they had was a map of the cave with many misleading symbols that only made it more difficult for them to escape. They also encountered many manifold problems while finding a way out. Whether both of them will succeed in escaping will all depend on their luck and fate.

Week 16

The robber's cache was already saturated with gold, where he hid them perfectly behind the mountains, which served as a bulwark against the polices. However, the robber's cupidity got the better of him and he decided to take action again . He wanted to make bricks without straw, a cursory plan was made which cause the plan to be a fiasco and the robber to be apprehended and finally brought to justice. Nevertheless, the loot that he had stolen all along was recovered as well.

Week 15

The poor old man led a nomadic life in the old fols home, abandoned by his family as the thought he was a burden. He had thought of trying to perservere to live on strong but his bitterness of life greatly fettered his thoughts. After thinking for a long period in his lonely room, he decided to end his life, and although many people tried precluding him from jumping off the building, he does not want to live on any longer. Many thought that his uncaring family was culpablefor his miserable end. :(

Week 14

When me and my family went to New York to visit our relatives, we came by a mammoth building that is outstanding amongst the stereotype shophouses and shopping malls. All of a sudden, a singular stentorian shout could be heard in that building. Curious, we decided to go forawrd and have a look at what is going on. When we reach there, we saw many of them lying in a supine position, with a therapist standing beside them. As the therapist gives another massage, another shout ensued, and alothough we were worried for the customer at first, we were relieved when a smile spread across his face. :D

Week 13

My cousin, Pauline, will be turning five in a few days time. Although she is still in an inchoate stage of growth, she is surreptitiously the most propitious person you can know. Whenever she sees someone upset or distraught, she would understand the situation and take the risk to go up to that person to comfort that person by tapping on his or her shoulder. She is an apple in everyone's eye, and although her cryptic emotions are hard to surmise, she can be easily won over by offering her a lollipop or aa chocolate. :D

Week 12

Weeks after the series of homocide case that had been going on in Singapore, police who have tried their best to apprehend the felon, did not succeed even after almost half of the police force was sent out to capture this dangerous person. That is why they are reaching out to the public for help by putting up placards to capture this anathema culprit for the murders, thus having great remuneration for that person. However, public is advised to inhibit from trying to capture him alone as he might be armed. For more information, please call 999-999-999-999-999 or in short, 999.

Week 11

Hello. This is something about me. I am timorous of heights, be it the third storey or the tenth storey, I'll grip anything thats around me tightly. When we went to watch a prestigous movie at the esplanade, my ilk and I were sitting at the forth level of the auditorium. Even when the flamboyant dancer is gracefully dancing around the dance floor, my attention was trapped in the seat and floor beneath me, afraid of it collapsing. When my mum that was seating beside me fortuitously spilled the water beside me, I jumped up immediately, and suddenly, the floor collapsed!!! At last it was just a dream. Tsk.
